Les Miserables DVD Film Noir Altman transplants Chandler's 1950's gumshoe

Altman transplants Chandler's 1950's gumshoe 'Philip Marlowe' (played by Elliott Gould) to a hedonistic and venal 70's Hollywood over which he casts a sardonic eye

with Lee occupying the role of the scientist and his deadly alter ego

The naturalistic performances and location filming combine to give a definite feel of gritty authenticity

the film is an abstract wash of luminescent colours from another world
